But I was wrong, and I’ll happily admit that now. The Golden Knights are legitimate Cup contenders, and they have shown once again that they were drastically underestimated by bouncing Los Angeles in four games.

That doesn’t mean all is well. Gronkowski has taken his trademark individuality to the extreme this offseason, declining to declare that he’ll play and, most recently, arguably trolling coach Bill Belichick over Gronkowski’s obvious intention to treat voluntary workouts as just that.

It’s possible Gronkowski simply wants more money, and that if the team wants to address a contract that will pay Gronk $8 million this year, maybe Gronk will have more enthusiasm about April, May, and June non-mandatory practices.

As to Gronkowski’s pay for 2018, the $8 million he’ll make matches the $8 million per year that former Eagles third-string tight end Trey Burton will earn in Chicago this year, and it’s $2 million less than the $10 million per year that Jimmy Graham will make in Green Bay. Shurmur said he acknowledged to Flowers what he had been told, that Flowers played through an ankle issue in 2017. He did not allow a sack in more than 300 consecutive snaps, but there is no denying Flowers has been a major disappointment, given his lofty draft status. Right tackle is often a better fit for a big, powerful run blocker. Flowers is big, but he is not a strong run blocker, often leaning into defensive linemen rather than bulldozing them out of the way.

It will not be an easy transition for Flowers, although Shurmur said, “He’s had some experience [on the right side] that maybe is not quite as obvious to people.” Plenty of premier pass-rushers line up on the left side of the defensive line, putting them directly across from Flowers at right tackle.

“The right-tackle, left-tackle thing in itself, you got to protect both edges, and it comes down to the matchup of the rushers a lot of times,” Shurmur said. “There are some guys their whole careers have played on the right or the left, so a move like that would be difficult. But most often because these guys were not just born starters, they’ve had to move around up front, and we’re very confident he’ll have success over there.”

Washington’s giving Phil Taylor another chance to complete an amazing comeback.

The former Browns first-rounder hasn’t played in the league since November 2014, but was penciled into the starting lineup for Washington last year in what would have been an incredible return from injuries. Now he gets another chance to do it at age 30, which will be that much more impressive.

Thus, the premise of King’s item — that Rosen may be dismayed with Mora’s comments from last week — presumes that, in reality, Rosen isn’t delighted by them. The truth may be that he is.

So why is Rosen visiting the Browns this week, you ask? Again, he’s sufficiently self aware to know how others regard him, and he doesn’t want to be regarded as a guy who is trying to engineer the draft process in his favor. Even if he is.
